2008′s RYLA camp staff shared a few more hours of fun at the end of the summer at the post-camp wrap-up dinner at Bavarian Grill in Plano. Often partnered with the Plano Rotary Club, Bavarian Grill was also voted Plano’s Best Ethnic Food of 2008—and boy oh boy, did we get to sample some tasty sausages and sauerkraut!
Dozens of folks showed up, some bringing spouses and other family members, but all came ready for food, fellowship, and a great deal of fun—which was certainly had, especially when a man with an accordion came out to lead us all in a rousing German song, complete with rounds of, “Yah, yah, yah, yah!” For a group accustomed to breaking the bread of camp together, sharing a few hours in a nice and unique restaurant was a break from the ordinary as well as a treat of food and company.
Many thanks go to Dana Mackison and Big Duff, as well as other members of the senior staff, for organizing our evening!
Of course, we missed those who could not attend—so for next year, do not only set aside the second week of June for camp, but also keep the end of July available for a wonderful get-together.
