We are sad to report the death of Mr. Milton Kessel, a former Rotary District Governor and the grandfather of Camp RYLA, District 5810.
Mr. Kessler encouraged Gary Embrey and Bill Innes to attend the Camp RYLA in Taos, New Mexico in 1990 in order to observe the process and bring the camp to District 5810.
He then came to RYLA every year, excepting the 2008 camp. Mark Healy says he usually came on the first and last days and for many years spoke on the first night of the magic of RYLA — and Synergy!
“Milton was one of the reasons that Dana, Gary and I were originally involved,” says Healy, “and no matter what, he was most proud of introducing RYLA over all the other projects that he brought or participated in through Rotary.”
Our camp is extremely grateful for his leadership and guidance in establishing a program that has continued to equip and enable young leaders.
