The 2009 Olympics created an opportunity for the campers to utilize the skills learned in the previous week. Some alumni commented on how the campers were overwhelmingly supportive of one another as they completed the various tasks, even among those who had more trouble with the challenges. One group even completed the obstacle course in a little over seven minutes, far ahead of all the other groups.

After dinner, a storm rolled into town and all the campers and staff dashed to the Rec Center for cover and staff quickly went into search and recovery mode to locate everyone. Staff then created a campfire out of neon glow sticks and placed them in a plastic bin to create an environment appropriate for the ending of camp. Different venue, but same emotional concluding event to wrap up another great year at camp.
THURSDAY
The campers (and staff) reflected on their week at camp with a video montage of the week’s events. When asked if they applied as ACs, nearly every hand in the room shot up enthusiastically. Four ACs were awarded scholarships and two alumni (congratulations ALLISON and MICHELIN!) were granted awards, funded wholly by RYLArians, for their commitment to and work at camp. (To donate to future funds awarded to alumni, contact Sly.)
